XMedia

XMedia is a web-based media database which is part of our Digital Asset Management system (DAM).

 

XMedia is a shared brand management/graphic production platform for all marketing materials from campaign concepts, print ads, packaging, TV spots, etc. Your stakeholders have a single point of entry to all assets which are maintained and updated in one place. This ensures that you always get the newest version of the document.

 

With XMedia you can optimize the control and distribution of your campaign materials, design line, corporate visual identity and product lines.

 

Due to Digital XPress’ graphic competences, color management is integrated in all processes using Adobe Color Engine. This guarantees a uniform representation of images based on the master image (full RGB color space). The image is converted on-the-fly for the specific purpose, e.g. offset printing, print ads, website, Word document or PowerPoint presentation.

 

The DAM solution from Digital XPress is a hosted solution, so all you need to use XMedia is a web browser and an internet connection.

User and user groups

Many companies want to be able to define what different user groups and users are allowed to see and do in the DAM system.

 

XMedia allows you to define what a specific user or user group is allowed to do in the system. A username and password will define the user rights in terms of what you are allowed to do in the system, what folders are available and which functionalities are available to you - but also what language the DAM system will be operating in. For instance, you could have different user groups for different stores, markets, countries or one for the press, where all relevant material is available online.

 

User groups also allow you to have customized welcome pages for different user groups. You can use this functionality to target and distribute different messages to different users groups within your organization.

 

Statistics

XMedia offers you the opportunity to track and measure what assets are being used broken down by user and user groups. This means you can measure how effective the assets have been in terms of how often they have been used by the different users or user groups. In other words, XMedia gives you a marketing effectiveness measurement which enables you to refine and optimize your marketing material over time.

 

Customized metadata fields

Metadata means “data about data”. In many cases, metadata is used to link keywords to files, but often it is also useful to have detailed product information linked to images. XMedia can have as many metadata fields as you need.

 

The content of metadata fields does not have to come from manual entries in XMedia. Digital XPress is able to “auto tag” metadata through integrations to other sources at your company, e.g. your product database or ERP system.

 

You will have the benefit of having metadata from your own systems automatically available in XMedia - linked to the relevant images or files.

 

Metadata fields can, in addition to keywords, be:

  • Model number
  • Product description
  • Category
  • Dimensions
  • Rights
  • Photographer  

Digital Rights Management (DRM)

For some assets you have to buy the legal rights for a specific time period, e.g. for images.

 

XMedia provides a DRM module which allows you to monitor and control the use of assets. When your time period has expired, XMedia will automatically hide images or assets that you no longer hold the legal rights to use.

 

You can also use the DRM module to launch or hide marketing material/campaigns for your users at a specific time. This will prevent your organization from using material or campaigns that are out-dated or have not been launched yet.

 

Customer-specific login page

XMedia and XPublish are delivered with a standard login page. The login page can, however, be customized to specific users or user groups.

 

A unique login page can help your marketing department 'brand' XMedia and XPublish as a DAM system that comes from your marketing department.

 

You can also use a unique welcome page to spread news about what's available in the solution (“New product images of product X are now available”, “Templates for ads used in newspapers can be found here”, etc.). Each user group could have its own welcome page so you can also diversify and target the content of the welcome page for each user group. You could have an English version of the DAM system for one user group and a Danish version for another user group.

 

Integrations

When you use XMedia and XPublish as the platform for distribution and execution of your marketing initiatives, it is a good idea to carry out integrations to other systems in your organization, e.g. CRM or ERP systems.

 

Integration is typically carried out for two reasons:

 

Metadata should only be maintained and updated in the source system but it needs to be used in other systems in order to enrich other assets, e.g. in a DAM system.

Automate recurring operations

XMedia has an open database structure that makes it possible to integrate it with the most popular CRM/ERP systems such as SAP, Axapta, etc.

 

If you use XMedia as your central image database, you may need to export images automatically to your website, online store or online catalogue. When an image has been edited in XMedia the image will automatically be updated on your website or in your online catalogue.
