Color management

Color management brings out the best in your images

Whether it is processing several thousand images at the same time or optimizing the details in the image, color management at Digital XPress can help you. The finishing touches can even make good images better. At Digital XPress, this has become a rule, and we take pride in nursing the images once they have left the camera.

Color management at Digital XPress is:

  • Uniformity in your image, irrespective of the printing method chosen
  • Optimizing the image’s path from the camera to the end product.

RAW optimizes and provides sharpness

The RAW format is also called the digital negative, since it saves as much as possible of the original data. All other file formats are compressed and compromise quality. With the RAW format, there are more opportunities for optimizing the image during the finishing touches. This can be, for example, color tones. In areas that would otherwise have to be entirely black or white, there may be data on colors, and this provides an opportunity to recreate over or underexposed areas in the image without compromising the quality of the rest of the image. The RAW format also provides an opportunity to set the color temperature, which is basically the light in which the image is taken. The color temperature is crucial for the grey balance of the image.

All in all, images that are supplied in RAW format and retouched will have the best possible appearance according to the reality they reflect.

RGB Workflows

At Digital XPress, we work with fully-automated RGB workflows that have integrated color management every step of the way. We can optimize your images and their re-use, and can offer integration with technological solutions that support the work processes of your marketing department and make them more efficient.

We process your original material once, in one file. We do this in the highest possible quality and resolution: RGB, which is the widest possible range of colors. Your image now exists as a medium-independent master file – the basis for all later use of the image. This ensures uniform reproduction every time your image is used.

When you want to use your master image in a new context, e.g. in a newspaper, a glossy catalogue or on your website, we automatically generate a new version using the master file. The new version of the image file is specified and profiled exactly for the purpose. The image is thus designed for the media in which it is to be reproduced, and we therefore take into account things like paper quality, the printing method and the printing press in question. This is your guarantee of quality and uniformity.

Workflows and process optimization

At Digital XPress, the quality of the images is essential for the tasks we perform. Thus we are dedicated to high image quality and strive for the perfect result, but at the same time we optimize all the processes on the image’s path from the photographer’s camera to the desired end product. With complex photo workflows, we unite quality and efficient work procedures. We process many thousands of images every year in different automated workflows, where photographers themselves, for example, upload their images to our system.
